In this video I share some insights from my recent reading of Darren Hardy’s book The Compound Effect and how you can apply them to your life. It’s the ability to make small changes and stick with them that can lead to the big payoffs in your life.
So many people fall into the trap of thinking that one day they will magically take the drastic actions that transform their lives but they miss out on all the small steps along the way that create the real momentum and the truly long-lasting change.
I also share some insights about the kind of work ethic that you will need to create the life you desire. So many people are missing this most basic of steps. You cannot watch TV every day and expect that things are just going to magically change. There has to be some major hustle to create the reality that you want.
For many years I was all about talent. I was a good speaker and I was working in an area with virtually zero competitors so I figured things would just roll on. More recently I have been deeply impacted by the importance of the hustle and the grind and of turning up every day and working your ass off.
We are all deeply effected by what I call ‘the talent myth’. It’s the idea that some people are just born with way more ability and that we are stuck where we are. So much research is making it really clear that through persistence and effort and hard work you can accomplish so much more that you currently think is possible. As a result, I like to say to people, “You have no idea what you’re capable of!”
So I hope you find this video genuinely helpful and that it inspires you to get off your butt, define what matters to you and then get out there and start working for it.
