As we face the challenges of life it is very human to focus on outside forces that we tell ourselves pose a threat to our progress, happiness, or success. However, the biggest threat you will ever face is not outside you. The biggest threat will always be within.”

Speaker:You know, often, uh, I just get these emails from people about, you know,
Speaker:this is difficult, this is difficult.
Speaker:So the next few episodes are gonna really be covering.
Speaker:Uh, some of the very real challenges that we face, uh, last bit of housekeeping.

Speaker:Today, my friend, we are going to be talking about a really important topic.
Speaker:It's the topic of the toughest critic that you are ever gonna face.
Speaker:The toughest challenge that you're ever going to face.
Speaker:What I think is probably the biggest single opponent you will ever face.
Speaker:I believe we are living in a world right now where so much is externalized.
Speaker:The problems that we have.
Speaker:Or that we perceive we have as so externalized in terms
Speaker:of we blame the economy.
Speaker:We blame the government.
Speaker:We just think, well, if only our political party got in, then
Speaker:everything would be different.
Speaker:If I preferred political party was in power unicorns and rainbows and
Speaker:little Pixies would be holding hands, dancing down the street together,
Speaker:and money would fall from the sky.
Speaker:What have you know anything about modern economics money?
Speaker:Pretty much is falling from the sky.
Speaker:If you are.
Speaker:If you have the right connections, but, uh, we just externalize everything, right?
Speaker:It's like,
Speaker:Oh, it's the environment.
Speaker:It's the weather.
Speaker:It's this?
Speaker:It's that?
Speaker:I'll make change.
Speaker:When this happens or this external problem is fixed, it is so easy.
Speaker:My friend.
Speaker:To fall into the trap, the challenge.
Speaker:Of believing that if only X was different than our life would be radically better.
Speaker:What I want to suggest in this episode.
Speaker:Is based on a great deal of life experience, thinking, reading, and
Speaker:observing some of the greatest people in history and in current modern life.
Speaker:I want to suggest that the greatest opponent, the greatest
Speaker:critical always be internal.
Speaker:What do I mean?
Speaker:Friends think about it.
Speaker:Your internal dialogue, your beliefs about yourself.
Speaker:Uh, what you think you can achieve?
Speaker:What do you think you can change about yourself?
Speaker:What do you think you can affect in the world?
Speaker:This is the classic learn helplessness model, right?
Speaker:Like as soon as people believe that they really can't change or affect anything.
Speaker:They collapse into learned helplessness, which leads to
Speaker:depression, despair, and hopelessness.
Speaker:So this opponent that we have is existing in our consciousness.
Speaker:It's existing in our psyche.
Speaker:It's been there your entire life.
Speaker:We don't need to delve too deeply into the roots today, but it's there, right?
Speaker:It's this voice that says, oh, you always do that.
Speaker:Or the voice that says, you know, Instead of saying, you always do that.
Speaker:It says, oh, you could never do that.
Speaker:I mean, you lose both ways, right?
Speaker:Tells you, you can't do this.
Speaker:And it tells you always do this.
Speaker:We all hear it right now.
Speaker:It's different for each of us, depending on how we were raised and
Speaker:childhood experiences and trauma and all sorts of different factors.
Speaker:You know, no matter where it came from, what I really want to suggest to you is
Speaker:that we can do a great deal about this.
Speaker:Now, the first thing is always.
Speaker:Is to get conscious, right?
Speaker:How many times do you hear me say that?
Speaker:But to get conscious.
Speaker:We've got to hear that internal dialogue.
Speaker:And you must begin to realize that you have an incredible
Speaker:amount of agency by agency.
Speaker:I simply mean you have the ability to notice.
Speaker:To challenge.
Speaker:Two.
Speaker:Delete a lot of what's going on inside your head and just
Speaker:catch yourself in the act.
Speaker:You know, I, I, uh, I've been on a course for the last four days as
Speaker:many of, you know, It's a, it's a very sort of high level course out
Speaker:of the U S they don't record it.
Speaker:So you've got to do it live and, uh, it runs for 14 hours a day.
Speaker:It starts at midnight.
Speaker:And so I basically slept off kind of two and a half hours sleep
Speaker:a day for the last four days.
Speaker:And today I've got to be out of the studio and I got a really busy day.
Speaker:So, of course I woke up this morning and, uh, around 5:00 AM and I'm like, oh, wow.
Speaker:Wow.
Speaker:Cause normally I'm like, you know, out there and charging, but I'm
Speaker:like, this is, this is tough.
Speaker:Like I'm wrecked.
Speaker:And then the internal critic starts or the eternal opponent going, oh man.
Speaker:You know, you're not going to be able to do X today.
Speaker:You're not gonna be able to get into the studio.
Speaker:You're not going to be able to do this.
Speaker:And then, and then it starts, um, critiquing other people.
Speaker:It goes, ah, Maybe, maybe people aren't being supportive enough.
Speaker:Maybe, maybe people don't really care about.
Speaker:And you can hear it and they're going, hang on, hang on, hang on.
Speaker:First step is like, Oh, it's you.
Speaker:Oh, it's you.
Speaker:I know you.
Speaker:You're the one that wants to steal my destiny.
Speaker:You're the one that wants to steal my purpose.
Speaker:You're the one that wants to hold me back.
Speaker:You're the ones that wants to keep me exactly where I am in life.
Speaker:Step one, recognition.
Speaker:Step two.
Speaker:I just want to operate in a higher purpose.
Speaker:I just want to operate at a higher level and go, Nope, no listening,
Speaker:going to get on with it, going to choose how I respond in the world,
Speaker:going to choose how I relate to people.
Speaker:I have way more power than I realize, and I'm going to get on with it.
Speaker:So my friend, I just want to put that thought in your head today
Speaker:that the greatest opponent you will ever face is not external.
Speaker:It is not the government.
Speaker:It is not the economy.
Speaker:It is not the weather.
Speaker:It is not world events.
Speaker:Stop.
Speaker:Really?
Speaker:I would say, just stop watching mainstream media.
Speaker:I mean, honestly, unless do, there are so many other forms of entertainment
Speaker:because it is not in journalism.
Speaker:It's not it's entertainment.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:It's basically clickbait and fear-based fright bat bait.
Speaker:That a is designed to convince you that the world is a dark, terrible place where
Speaker:nuclear Armageddon is only a step away.
Speaker:Friends, put it this way.
Speaker:If nuclear Armageddon is only a step away, two things.
Speaker:One there's nothing you can do about it.
Speaker:And two is all going to be over real quick.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:So let's stop focusing on that.
Speaker:Because there's nothing that almost any of us can do.
Speaker:So let's focus on.
Speaker:We can do, which was live today.
Speaker:Live today.
Speaker:The best we possibly can.
Speaker:Ignore reject, delete the internal opponent and get on with living this
Speaker:phenomenal life that you were created for.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:Stop looking outside for the problems.
Speaker:The problem is inside and the destiny is also insight and the amazing capacity
Speaker:and potential and power is also inside.
Speaker:If you will recognize that distorted.
Speaker:Antagonistic self that lives within you and refuse to participate in its
Speaker:pity party today all right go ahead subscribe go and check out all those
Speaker:links book me to speak book me for coaching It is all there God bless
