Speaker:

What.

Speaker:

Three episodes.

Speaker:

We do want a four-part series.

Speaker:

This is day four.

Speaker:

We're talking about the woop goal setting methodology from doctor or professor.

Speaker:

Gabrielle OT engine.

Speaker:

It's a really simple methodology that I first heard of a while ago.

Speaker:

I really like it.

Speaker:

I think it's a useful, helpful, intelligent, and it

Speaker:

can really move us forward.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

We've been talking about the other steps.

Speaker:

We're going to get onto that in just a minute to my voice.

Speaker:

Just go crazy.

Speaker:

I heard that too.

Speaker:

So let's press him before we get there.

Speaker:

We are on day four.

Speaker:

You're ready.

Speaker:

We're going to jump in.

Speaker:

Over the last three days, we've talked about this w double Opie woop goal

Speaker:

setting methodology w standing of course, for wish what it is that we want.

Speaker:

That's significant for us.

Speaker:

What is the wish?

Speaker:

What is the.

Speaker:

Different state of being, what is the different state of attainment

Speaker:

or accumulation or contribution?

Speaker:

No one gets judged on what their wishes are, right.

Speaker:

Unless they really bad and going to hurt people, then we will judge them

Speaker:

and he'll judge them very quickly.

Speaker:

Um, But of course we're not that kind of community are we, we are a group

Speaker:

of people who are trying to do useful.

Speaker:

Beautiful.

Speaker:

Uh, add things that contribute to the greater good build the

Speaker:

world, because the way you change the world is you grow two things.

Speaker:

You do your own personal development, and then you try and sow into

Speaker:

the development of others.

Speaker:

We do enough of that.

Speaker:

We get a very different planet.

Speaker:

So the first w is wish.

Speaker:

What is it that you want?

Speaker:

The second, uh, the first O is outcome.

Speaker:

What is the deeper driver underneath that?

Speaker:

Go back to day two and check out that, um, and again, apologies that

Speaker:

the audio on those, uh, LA the first two episodes was all over the place.

Speaker:

We've got all that fixed now.

Speaker:

So outcome, what is the outcome?

Speaker:

What is the deeper driving state underneath your wish?

Speaker:

Because once you attain the thing, whether it's a Nobel prize and

Speaker:

academy award, a brand new Ferrari.

Speaker:

Uh, house in the French Riviera who knows friends, whatever it is that your wish is.

Speaker:

Once you attain it, you will discover that underneath it was something else.

Speaker:

A feeling, state connection, intimacy, love, relationship, excitement, joy

Speaker:

contribution, all these important human experiences that lie underneath.

Speaker:

The attainment of our dreams and goals.

Speaker:

Think about it.

Speaker:

You know, think of here's a random example.

Speaker:

Think of the Wright brothers, right?

Speaker:

Flying their first plane at kitty Hawk.

Speaker:

Opening up an entire new.

Speaker:

Era in human history.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

I don't think that they said to themselves that their entire wish was

Speaker:

to, you know, really just get this thing to fly, because I'm sure that

Speaker:

when it did fly and they'd experienced it, they're like, that's amazing.

Speaker:

We did it.

Speaker:

But underneath that would have been this incredible sense of what

Speaker:

achievement the deeper goal was.

Speaker:

Achievement.

Speaker:

The deeper goal was contribution.

Speaker:

The deeper goal was excitement.

Speaker:

And a place in history.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

It's not enough for us to just have wishes.

Speaker:

Underneath them.

Speaker:

We need to know the outcomes.

Speaker:

And yesterday we talked about the obstacles.

Speaker:

That one of the, probably the major thing that really stops all of us

Speaker:

from attaining those things that are most important to us is simply the

Speaker:

experience of obstacles that we are.

Speaker:

They're not prepared for them.

Speaker:

We haven't thought about them.

Speaker:

And all of a sudden there's difficulty challenge problems.

Speaker:

We didn't anticipate.

Speaker:

And we question ourselves and we begin to give up.

Speaker:

So yesterday we went deep on this idea of obstacles today.

Speaker:

Today's the simplest part.

Speaker:

We go from w w O to the P in woop, which is simply the plan.

Speaker:

We want to talk a little bit today about making a plan.

Speaker:

When the obstacles come, we need to be clear on what the plan is.

Speaker:

The overall God goal itself, we need to have some kind of plan.

Speaker:

We need to have some kind of direction forward.

Speaker:

We need to have a clear sense of this is what's important.

Speaker:

These are the steps that I'm going to take.

Speaker:

This is how I'm going to respond to the difficulties that I face.

Speaker:

That is my plan.

Speaker:

You can get super fancy on this.

Speaker:

You can sit down with a journal for hours and scripted out.

Speaker:

I find aspects of that challenging because life's very fluid.

Speaker:

Isn't it?

Speaker:

Like it's.

Speaker:

You can definitely plan, but then you have to accept contingencies.

Speaker:

You have to accept the fact that there are variables that

Speaker:

all sorts of things can change.

Speaker:

I got three young kids, like every one of my days is just this blur of contingency.

Speaker:

It's like everything.

Speaker:

Every day, there's different things that can happen, different

Speaker:

possibilities all the time.

Speaker:

So it's important to understand that our plans are guideposts.

Speaker:

They show us.

Speaker:

Intelligent steps forward, but we also have to accept that rigidity is

Speaker:

not our friend and micro managing.

Speaker:

Every single aspect of our reality is also problematic

Speaker:

too, because it gets burdensome.

Speaker:

It gets overwhelming.

Speaker:

So, but you do want an overall schematic, a schema of how

Speaker:

you're going to move forward.

Speaker:

I actually like typing lately.

Speaker:

I've always been a big writer, but I actually find it sometimes

Speaker:

easy for me to, just, to, to express my thinking, my planning.

Speaker:

By sitting down and typing it out and just organizing it

Speaker:

in a, in a very specific way.

Speaker:

So friends, I would love at this point too.

Speaker:

Go deeper into some mystical aspect of planning.

Speaker:

That's going to revolutionize your life.

Speaker:

But I don't think there is one.

Speaker:

I think it's pretty much common sense.

Speaker:

I think it is.

Speaker:

Simply deciding what's important to you writing it down, writing

Speaker:

down the underlying drivers.

Speaker:

Identifying the obstacles on paper.

Speaker:

Planning your response to the obstacles.

Speaker:

And then just planning the basic steps forward planning.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I'm starting this particular goal.

Speaker:

Next Tuesday, I'm going to try and do this each day.

Speaker:

I'm going to make this many calls.

Speaker:

I'm going to, you know,

Speaker:

I apply for this many jobs and you just sketch out the steps forward.

Speaker:

It might be step one, you know, you want to lose weight and it's just

Speaker:

like, I'm going to start walking here.

Speaker:

I'm going to be running by this state.

Speaker:

I'm going to reach out to this gym.

Speaker:

I'm going to get a personal trainer, whatever it is, just map out those steps.

Speaker:

Doesn't it sound so simple and straightforward, and I know you

Speaker:

can be listening, going well.

Speaker:

Isn't there any super magical unicorn thing to planning?

Speaker:

Not really.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

Oh, it's just this magic to it.

Speaker:

It's the magic that most people don't do it.

Speaker:

The most people and I've been, I've been guilty this year.

Speaker:

You kind of have this wish, right?

Speaker:

Like everybody has a wish.

Speaker:

None of us have any trouble.

Speaker:

Like if you, if you go and interview the average person on the street and say,

Speaker:

if you could have anything you want.

Speaker:

If you could change something in your life, that's important to you, what is it?

Speaker:

Very few people are going to struggle to say, oh, nothing.

Speaker:

Everything's perfect.

Speaker:

There's nothing.

Speaker:

I would want to be different.

Speaker:

Hey, you might meet some people like that, but in general, that's

Speaker:

the exception, not the norm.

Speaker:

So we don't struggle with the wish.

Speaker:

And if you take five minutes of people, they're going to

Speaker:

eventually articulate the outcome.

Speaker:

And then they can even articulate the obstacles, but the part that most people

Speaker:

just simply don't do is the plan part.

Speaker:

Is the actual sitting down on paper.

Speaker:

Now this, now this, now this, now this, when this happens, I do this.

Speaker:

When this happens, I do this.

Speaker:

If I feel despondent, I reach out to this person.

Speaker:

If I want to quit, I talk to that person.

Speaker:

Um, if I'm not where I want to be, then by this date, then

Speaker:

I'm going to try this strategy.

Speaker:

Just get it on paper.

Speaker:

That's all it is.

Speaker:

That's all it is.

Speaker:

Get myself excited about this.

Speaker:

I think I'm going to go do some planning to.

Speaker:

Uh, friends, that's it.

Speaker:

That's all I want to say.

Speaker:

Please make sure you've subscribed.

Speaker:

Please make sure you've checked out the show notes because you

Speaker:

can get free stuff in there.

Speaker:

You can book me to speak all of those bits and pieces are in there.

Speaker:

So go check it out.

Speaker:

You can see the YouTube version of these.

Speaker:

So we're back to good audio quality now.

Speaker:

Um, I'm back recording this one, but I've actually just recorded seven new episodes

Speaker:

that are already in the system now.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Look over the next week.

Speaker:

I've got some really good content coming out, so please make sure

Speaker:

you're checking back in each day.

Speaker:

For the daily podcast, because I'm enjoying it.

Speaker:

I'm really trying to bring you some good stuff.

Speaker:

So a tune in each day, make sure you do that.

Speaker:

Cause you never know when one single idea one.

Speaker:

One of the concept is just going to lodge in your consciousness and

Speaker:

move you forward in different ways.

Speaker:

So let's be people.

Speaker:

Who pursue our wishes and dreams.

Speaker:

Because I am convinced that as we do it, we empower and encourage people around us.

Speaker:

We empower, we empower EJ.

Speaker:

That's the conjunction of empowering and, and encouragement.

Speaker:

Empowering.

Speaker:

I'm going to copyright that trademark.

Speaker:

It.

Speaker:

Hey everybody, I'm here to, what did I just say?

Speaker:

Empowered you.

Speaker:

Who wants to be empowering.

Speaker:

Um, we all do.

Speaker:

I know I do.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

I just think that as we pursue these meaningful things, we come

Speaker:

alive, we come alive and a energy and enthusiasm and a struggle and

Speaker:

our resilience and our toughness.

Speaker:

Inspires and elevates all those around us.

Speaker:

Um, for all my many mistakes, you know, I really did look at my kids

Speaker:

at the moment and see in them.

Speaker:

Uh, yeah.

Speaker:

Sure plenty of, probably of my failings, but I begin to see in them some of

Speaker:

the resilience and toughness and, and.

Speaker:

Energy and focus that, um, that at least I've tried to model as best I can.

Speaker:

So don't forget that as you do this work.

Speaker:

You are going to have an audience that audience could be your kids.

Speaker:

It could be a.

Speaker:

Your spouse, your boyfriend or girlfriend is OSA.

Speaker:

If you have a spouse, you shouldn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend just

Speaker:

to clarify, but wherever, whatever state you're in, in life, right?

Speaker:

Whatever.

Speaker:

Wherever you are, it could be your colleagues, your work

Speaker:

friends, just your close friends.

Speaker:

That is, we really step up in life and move forward.

Speaker:

We do.

Speaker:

You know, what is it?

Speaker:

A rising tide lifts, all the boats.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

As our tide rises, we often encourage those around us.

Speaker:

So don't write this stuff off.

Speaker:

Articulate your wish.

Speaker:

Identify the outcomes.

Speaker:

Be conscious of the obstacles and go and build your plan All right, everybody

Speaker:

god bless you please make sure you've subscribed my name's jonathan doyle

Speaker:

this has been the daily podcast and you and i are going to talk again tomorrow
